Brant joined the University of Sheffield in 2016 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. He completed a combined BE(Hons)/BSc in Chemical Engineering and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Melbourne, Australia, followed by a PhD in Chemical Engineering at the University of Melbourne in 2016.

Research Interests

Brant’s research focuses on development of sustainable and advanced materials for a wide variety of applications in infrastructure and energy industries. Particular focus is centred on investigation of composition-structure-property relationships, reaction mechanisms and kinetics in advanced low-CO2 cements and concretes via advanced spectroscopic and microstructural analytical techniques, including solid state nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. Additional research interests include design, characterisation and exploitation of oxide-based functional ceramics for thermoelectric, dielectric, solid electrolyte and mixed conductor applications.
