Work experience

As well as normal work placements outside of term-time, one of the opportunities we offer to our undergraduates is a degree with employment experience. This is where students spend a year of their degree working for an organisation related to their studies, putting their scientific skills into practice and gaining valuable work experience. An unusual feature of our undergraduate degree structure is that students can spend their fourth year doing this, as a research project. Students taking this option often spend 12 months on a research project and usually go on to PhDs afterwards.
