Course accreditation

In common with all other UK university engineering departments wishing to provide accredited courses, we aim to satisfy the requirements of the Engineering Council (UK) new standard (UK- SPEC) for professional engineers (CEng and IEng) and engineering technicians, which in March 2004 replaced SARTOR.

Under UK-SPEC, the requirements for CEng may be exemplified by an IMechE (Institution of Mechanical Engineers) accredited integrated MEng degree or a 3-year IMechE accredited BEng honours degree plus either an appropriate Masters degree accredited or approved by the IMechE, or appropriate Further Learning to Masters level. All our BEng and MEng degrees are accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

MEng with Biomechanics will be fully accredited in the year 2018 with accreditation fully back dated.

For Further details on accreditation and The Department of Mechanical Engineering you can contact: Mr Jason Hawley: jason.hawley@sheffield.ac.uk or Mrs Nicola Farquhar: n.farquhar@sheffield.ac.uk

Please note that if a student fails to fulfill certain elements of a degree programme, they may be awarded a non-accredited degree.
