Investigation of materials that isolate and reduce human vibration transmission

Recent research in the department has developed a methodology for assessing the vibration transmitted to humans, e.g. into the hand via a vibrating tool. This project will seek to assess new materials and systems that have the potential to reduce vibration transmission. The findings could be applied in industrial situations (e.g. prevention of hand-arm vibration syndrome) as well as other high-vibration situations such as mountain biking.
