I graduated with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from The University of Sheffield in 2012. Pursuing a career in research, I under took a Masters of Research (MRes) in Cardiff University School of Biosciences.
I was then awarded a PhD studentship in the European Cancer Stem Cell Research Institute, Cardiff, under the supervision of Dr Neil Rodrigues. After completing my PhD in 2017, I undertook a temporary research position in Dr Richard Clarkson’s lab.
I have recently joined the lab of Professor Ingunn Holen as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Oncology and Metabolism.

Having conducted research in areas such as cancer, stem cells and neurological disorders, I understand the importance of elucidating the origins of disease and their underlying genetic mechanisms.
Understanding mechanisms of disease has always motivated me to pursue different forms of therapeutics. My PhD research looked at how we can target acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) and haematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) with novel drugs to target leukaemia stem cells (LSCs) improve bone marrow transplant therapy, respectively, in which I identified two potential compounds that may be implemented in therapy.
A lead compound was then used to target metastasis of breast and prostate cancer in xenograft mouse models.
I am now working on a BCN funded project to establish the effects of a CDK4/6 inhibitor and determine its effects on breast cancer bone metastasis in vivo.
