Standalone Modules (part-time by distance learning)

We offer the following as individual standalone modules:

(*see below - BIOS Accredited Modules)

Find the dates when standalone modules will take place

Each module amounts to 30 credits and is recognised as a qualification in itself. Alternatively the credits can be used as a contribution to the MMedSci (Vision and Strabismus) qualification should a student subsequently apply and be accepted onto the course (within five years).

Any two standalone modules would be combined to enable the award of a Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits), any four standalone modules would enable the award of a Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits) as long as the credits are gained within a five year time span.

All of the modules are available to anybody with a relevant qualification in the eye care profession.  Currently we have Low Vision nurses, Optometrists and Ophthalmologists studying with us.

Most modules require one day of attendance for teaching in Sheffield, however the Low Vision module additionally requires attendance at a clinical exam held in July each year.

Further information about the modules and the forms of assessment are available to download from the right hand menu.

You will receive a certificate of completion once you have successfully completed the module.

Stroke
The Stroke module has been awarded the course Level 2 accreditation by the BIOS.
