Italian Project Intermediate 2 (MLT243B)

Through weekly tutorials, students will be guided and supported in their completion of a written portfolio (1,000 words) and their preparation of an oral presentation summarizing their research and demonstrating their acquisition of relevant academic and linguistic skills.

This unit aims to enable students at an 'Intermediate' or 'Higher Intermediate' level of competence in the language to work autonomously, exploring an aspect of the culture or society whose language they are studying, normally in relation to their main field of study, in order to acquire basic subject-specific terminology and to develop essential research skills.

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

  • perform at Level B1- ('Intermediate') or B1+ ('Higher Intermediate') of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
  • interpret information gleaned, making initial hypotheses and drawing conclusions from it as appropriate
  • present their findings in speech and writing in the target language, using an appropriate register.
  • plan and manage a project involving individual research.

The content of our courses is reviewed annually to make sure it is up-to-date and relevant. Individual modules are occasionally updated or withdrawn. This is in response to discoveries through our world-leading research, funding changes, professional accreditation requirements, student or employer feedback, outcomes of reviews, and variations in staff or student numbers. In the event of any change we'll consult and inform students in good time and take reasonable steps to minimise disruption.
