The Molecular Ecology Research Group

Welcome to the Home Page of the Molecular Ecology Research Group. We are part of the Evolution and Behaviour Research Group in the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences at the University of Sheffield.

A new and completely refurbished molecular ecology laboratory was established in the Department of Animal and Plant Sciences in September 1998.

The research group is headed by Professors Terry Burke, Roger Butlin and Jon Slate.

Current research interests include sexual selection and mating systems, population structure and avian genome analysis (see Projects page for more detail).

Various protocols and software can be accessed from the left-hand buttons.

The laboratory is the home of the NERC Biomolecular Analysis Facility (NBAF) - Sheffield funded by NERC Scientific Services. Researchers can apply to use the Facility, but those from overseas may be charged.
