Two new pieces by George Nicholson

Two new pieces by George Nicholson will be premièred in Sheffield within days of each other. The first is Moonlight over Albion, a short reflective work for clarinet, viola and piano in memory of David Bedford, who died at the beginning of October. The title is a reference to one of David's early pieces, Music for Albion Moonlight. The new piece will be performed in the New Music Ensemble concert at Firth Hall on Tuesday 29th November, together with music by David Bedford, Morton Feldman and Sheffield composers Carlos Azevedo, Steven Jouanny and Chris Brammeld.

On Friday December 2nd the Sheffield University Clarinet Choir conducted by Anthony Houghton will present a lunchtime concert at the Cathedral which includes the première of George Nicholson's Harmonica, a three-movement work for twelve clarinettists.
