Dr Fay Hield involves students in a new Folk Song Commission for EFDSS
The Full English
Fay Hield has received a grant from PRSf to work with the newly constructed largest digitised collection of British folk song materials. Fay will explore the collections, selecting and arranging pieces to present in concert. The research will be conducted between January-May 2013, with a launch event at Cecil Sharp House in London on 20th June. The work will then tour nationally in October 2013. Thanks to faculty funding from the University of Sheffield, three students will be closely involved in the research, visiting the archive, researching the histories of the collectors, singers and particular songs, and preparing programme notes for public performances.
