New staff appointments in Music
We are delighted to be welcoming several new academic colleagues from September 2012, who will help expand our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching as well as bringing exciting new research areas to the department.
As Lecturer in Musicology, Dr Tim Shephard will bring expertise in Renaissance music and associated themes of patronage and identity, as well as interdisciplinary research in music and art history.

In Music Technology, Adam Stansbie will strengthen our team of electroacoustic composers and offer expertise in theories of acousmatic music and the aesthetics of contemporary music.

Dr Simon Keegan-Phipps, who is currently a Teaching Fellow in Ethnomusicology, has been successful in securing a permanent academic post in the department, so bringing folk music and wider ethnomusicological expertise to our undergraduate and Masters courses.

We are also pleased to be keeping Dr Fay Hield in post as a Teaching Fellow for another year, and look forward to seeing Fay’s new department folk group flourish during that time, as well as her teaching and outreach activities.
