Vanessa Sorce-Lévesque's 'Wrathful Vine' on Tour

tour imageWrathful Vine, a stereo acousmatic piece composed in 2012 by PhD student Vanessa Sorce-Lévesque, will be enjoying an international tour thanks to Canadian organisation New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA).

The tour is entitled “Places we go – Places we’re from…,” and includes a collection of Canadian sound art works. The performances and residencies are scheduled to happen in the UK, Ireland, Germany, United States and in Western Canada in the spring and fall of 2015.

Vanessa’s work is inspired by this bit of text, which appears in what is known as 'the Oracle of the Wrathful Vine':

The light of the moon is covered,
The Earth stands not still…
But all things appear Thunder!

Wrathful Vine was already performed in Toronto by NAISA last November, as part of their SOUNDplay series, and previously featured in the CSUF Festival for the EcoSono concert in California in March last year. It is also programmed for the New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival this coming June. The entire piece can be heard here :

New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA) is a non-profit organization, based in Toronto, that presents performances and installations spanning the entire spectrum of electroacoustic and experimental sound art.
