A new cello piece ‘Rare Earth’ by composer Dorothy Ker

A new cello piece ‘Rare Earth’ by composer Dorothy Ker will be given its world premiere as part of the Inside Out Festival in London on Tuesday 21st October. The concert, featuring internationally-acclaimed cellist Séverine Ballon and pianist Mark Knoop will also feature Dr Ker’s 2008 work for solo piano ‘The history of rock’, along with pieces by Michael Norris, Jeroen Speak and Sheffield alumnus John Croft. ‘Rare Earth was composed earlier in 2014 while Dr Ker was resident in the Lilburn House, Wellington New Zealand as part of her recent study leave.
