George Nicholson Two New Works Premiered

George Nicholson's String Quartet No.4 was given its performance by the Ligeti Quartet in London on March 7. His new work for solo bass clarinet, Soundings, will be heard in part for the first time at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin on March 17. Four of the eight movements will be played by the dedicatee, Sarah Watts, for whom he also wrote Darkness Visible, which was shortlisted for the British Composer Award last year.
