A concert by Peter Hill (Professor Emeritus in the Department of Music) has been listed by the Guardian under 'Best of 2015: our classical critics pick their favourite live events.' (Guardian 18 December 2015)

The recital, with co-pianist Benjamin Frith, took place last February in Cardiff as part of the City of Light series, and included two pinnacles of the piano 4-hand repertoire, Stravinsky's arrangement of The Rite of Spring and Messiaen's Visions de l'Amen, preceded by Messiaen's La Fauvette Passerinette, a solo piano piece discovered and reconstructed by Peter Hill. Hill's performance in Cardiff was 'virtuosic and beautifully poised ... Hill and Benjamin Frith played Visions de l'Amen with a balance of serenity and a vast, celebratory resonance. Each player was acutely attuned to the sonorities realised by the other... The audience was transfixed ... Rarely can The Rite have been performed with such a raw and visceral quality, or clarity of colour and registration. Hill's authority and Frith's power made it unforgettable.'
