Tim Shephard gives Newland Lecture at University of Hull

image of Esk buildingTim Shephard recently spoke to a large audience of staff and students at the University of Hull as part of their Newland Lectures series. He presented research into the beautiful decorations that accompany music notation in some Renaissance music manuscripts, arguing that such decorations must have had an influence on the meanings found by those using the manuscripts in the music they accompany. Tim will be teaching an innovative new module on ‘Music and Visual Culture’ at Sheffield next semester.
