International Conference on the Multimodal Experience of Music (ICMEM)
On Monday 23rd March 2015 the first International Conference on the Multimodal Experience of Music (ICMEM) began at the Department of Music.
ICMEM brings together academics, researchers and students from various disciplines who investigate the multimodality of musical experiences from different perspectives. The multidisciplinary nature of the meeting will feature work from audiology, cognition, computer science, music performance and theory, neuroscience, philosophy, and psychology.
‘Music, Mind, Machine at Sheffield’ is delighted to welcome ICMEM’s invited speakers, Professors Amir Amedi, Eric Clarke, Nicholas Cook and Peter Walker. In addition to their plenary sessions and round table discussions the conference schedule features 13 paper sessions, 2 poster sessions, symposiums on music and language and cross-modality and emotion, and a concert with talks to be held at Frith Hall on Tuesday 24th March 2015.
