As part of our MA, MMus and PhD programmes, we encourage researchers to examine critically their own work and the work of others. It is important to listen to and analyse the work of other composers. It is also important to learn something about the critical history of acousmatic music.
Acousmatic/Electroacoustic Musicology is a discipline in its own right. There is a desperate shortage of quality written research on composition and the compositional process. Conversely there is an abundance of poor research that relies heavily on concepts and emerging technologies to seek its own validity.
If you are motivated to write about music and technology in a way that furthers the community of researchers at Sheffield and beyond, please get in touch and apply online.
