How to apply to the NBAF - Sheffield

The NERC Biomolecular Analysis Facility is available to the UK community in the science areas that fall under the remit of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC).

Potential users should apply after first discussing their proposed project with Dr Deborah Dawson, the Facility Manager. Applications may be made at any time and the application form and appendix can be downloaded from the NERC NBAF central website, accessible by clicking on the "See also" button at the right hand side of the page.

Applications are graded by the Steering Committee using the usual NERC scale; the Steering Committee will decide which projects can be supported. The Steering Committee can reject applications from applicants who have previously failed to comply with the Facility's Terms and Conditions of Facility Access and Use. The award of a NERC grant or studentship does not guarantee automatic access to the Facility.

If you are currently applying for a NERC grant or fellowship that includes access to the NBAF-S, you will need to complete an application form at this stage. For further details, please download the document entitled "NERC grants and fellowships" on the right.

Successful applicants are provided with training and access to the NBAF-S facilities free of charge for an approved time period. No charge will normally be made for using consumables or equipment in the Facility, but users must make separate arrangements for their accommodation and travel costs.

For advice on how to complete the application form, please contact Dr Deborah Dawson.
