University of Sheffield and Kaplan to create new Sheffield International College
The University of Sheffield and Kaplan, a leading provider of educational programmes worldwide, have this week signed a formal agreement to establish Sheffield International College.
Based on the University's new North Campus, Sheffield International College will provide a range of intensive, high quality academic preparation programmes designed specifically for international students seeking entry to the University. The first intake for Sheffield International College will be in September 2006.
Sheffield International College will provide Foundation Studies and Graduate Diploma (pre-Masters) qualifications in two areas of study: business, law and social sciences; and science and engineering. The college's programmes combine academic subjects with intensive English language training. The programmes will prepare students for a wide range of degree programmes at the University of Sheffield.
Professor Bob Boucher, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sheffield, said: "The establishment of Sheffield International College represents a further advance for the University. By improving access to the University for talented students from around the world, Sheffield International College will reinforce the University of Sheffield's position as a destination for the most able students from around the world."
