The Sheffield ECMC                         

The Sheffield ECMC is based within the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Centre Co-Lead and Clinical Lead is Prof Sarah Danson, Professor in Medical Oncology in the University of Sheffield and Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at Weston Park Hospital, Sheffield. Professor Ingunn Holen is Centre Co-Lead and Scientific Lead.

The Sheffield ECMC provides early phase clinical trials to the patients of South Yorkshire and beyond.

The aims of the Sheffield ECMC are to:
• make more new treatments available to patients in early clinical trials
• help develop new active anticancer treatments
• develop biomarkers to predict who will benefit from treatment

The scientific focus of the Sheffield ECMC is
• Bone oncology
• Tumour microenvironment
• Genome biology

The clinical focus includes
• Bone oncology
• Thoracic malignancies
• Radiotherapy
• Rare tumours

Sheffield is the premier centre in the UK for bone oncology with an international reputation for clinical and translational research.
The Centre has facilities for imaging, flow cytometry, DNA sequencing and histopathology.
