The Achievement Awards programme enables Year 10 and 11 students across the region to demonstrate the skills needed for successful progression in whatever pathway they choose e.g. sixth form, college, apprenticeships, training organisations, university and eventually employment.
Over a two year period, starting in Year 10, students complete a series of goals in order to gain the award. The goals currently include 95% attendance and 95% punctuality in school, attending a post 16 open day or evening and undertaking some volunteering, work experience or equivalent extra curricular development.
We currently deliver the award in partnership with 14 selected schools which means that the students who gain the Achievement Award really 'stand out from the crowd'.
Achievement Awards Ceremony
At the end of Year 11 successful students are invited to attend a special graduation-style award ceremony along with family members and their teachers. At this ceremony they are individually presented with a certificate signed by the Vice-Chancellor to reward them for the effort they have made and the commitment and determination demonstrated over the two years. Afterwards they have their photograph taken to commemorate the evening.
