This course will take on some metaphysical themes of perennial interest, such as ontological commitment, the problem of universals, and the ontology of material objects. Readings will be drawn mainly from recent and contemporary sources.
Students wanting a taste of the course might consult E.J. Lowe A Survey of Metaphysics (Oxford University Press).
Meeting times are the same as for the undergraduate module PHI302.
If there are three or more postgraduates taking the module, a separate seminar will be scheduled for them.
