The course will build upon the Formal Logic module. It will examine the philosophical significance of some major logical results, along with various philosophical questions concerning the foundations of logic. It will also examine some central philosophical issues concerning the nature of linguistic meaning (we will look at some of the questions raised by propositional attitude reports like 'Bob believes that ...', for example).

Preparatory Reading

It will be helpful for students to review whatever logic they have previously studied.
