Humanities Research Institute
The University of Sheffield Philosophy Undergraduate Conference 2016 is now accepting submissions.
The conference is arranged every year by the Sheffield philosophy department and is a great chance for undergraduates to experience presenting one of their own papers to an interested group of peers.
All philosophy students welcome
We welcome students from all philosophy departments, and submissions from students at all levels of study.
Undergraduate Essay Prize
This year we will continue our tradition of awarding a prize to the best essay submitted. Some funding is available to help offset travel costs for the essay prize winner.
The deadline for submission is Friday 29 January and you should submit at least an abstract (although preferably a full paper) to Ashley Taylor (give your email the title: 'USPUC submission').
If your paper is selected you will be asked to give a talk. This can either be a shorter talk of 15-20 minutes or a longer one of 30 minutes. Please let us know your preference when submitting your paper/abstract. The talk will be followed by 15-20 minutes of questions which will be an opportunity to explore your ideas further. The event will be a friendly, encouraging and collaborative environment.
There will be two excellent keynote speakers at this year's conference including Sheffield's own Jennifer Saul and a yet to be confirmed external speaker.
If you have any questions, including any concerns about speaking or submitting please feel free to contact our undergraduate conference organisers, Holly or Beatriz and they will be very happy to discuss it further with you.
