The applications process
Here is a summary of the various stages involved in applying to study at Sheffield:
June - September
Getting the ball rolling
The University Open Days take place during this period. Book a place so that you can see our department, see the University and its facilities, find out about your accommodation and get a sense of Sheffield as a city.
The UCAS form
Decide on your final list of Universities, then complete and submit your UCAS form. Use the UCAS Course Search to find out additional details about courses, deadlines etc.
If you are currently studying in the USA or Canada we can accept an application from you through the Common Application. However, if you are able to apply through UCAS we would encourage you to choose this route. You can only apply through either Common Application or UCAS, not both. Please note that we are not able to consider Common Applications from students studying outside the USA or Canada.
*We welcome applications until 30 June 2017 for most of our courses. If your chosen course becomes full we may not be able to consider your application. So the earlier you apply the better!*
Once we receive your UCAS form, you'll receive an acknowledgment and we will carefully review your application, which may take a few weeks. If you are eligible you can also apply to us via UCAS Extra during the period February-July.
Open day for offer holders
Visit us at our open day for offer holders. You'll find out more about the course you've applied for, have a sample lecture and meet staff and current students. You will also be able to discuss your application with our staff.
Making your choices
During this period, you are required by UCAS to make firm and insurance choices for any courses for which you applied. (The deadline for any UCAS Extra courses is later.)
We will review the results from all applicants as soon as the A-level results are published and we will then contact you with our decision.
