John Lanchester has been a full-time writer since 1996. He has written ten books, and also everything from football match reports to obituaries via restaurant reviews, think pieces, reportage, memoir, and book reviews. He has had columns in the Observer, Guardian, Esquire, New York Times, and Daily Telegraph, and he has written extensively for the New Yorker and the London Review of Books, where he is both Chairman and a contributing editor. He has seen extensive, convulsive change in the areas of work, and intends to talk about that, and about any useful lessons he can pass on from his own experience.
