I joined the department in 2015 as a laboratory teaching associate. I am now a university teaching associate, working part-time following my return from maternity leave. I am leading the new level 2 physics skills module, teaching in the undergraduate labs and developing content for the programme level approach. I have also been involved in the development, coordination and delivery of new extended 3rd year project modules, supervised a running group project for the 3rd year Group Industrial Project in Physics (GrIP) module and developed undergraduate laboratory teaching spaces.
I am a member of the White Rose Industrial Physics Academy (WRIPA) team which aims to increase the employability and industrial relevance for university physics graduates. I came to the department following a post as a contract experimental physicist at Smiths Detection where I was part of a research and development team designing and testing an ion mobility spectrometer (Trace-Pro) for trace explosives detection. Prior to that I studied for a mechanical engineering PhD at the University of Sheffield as part of the combustion and flow diagnostics research group, researching visualisation and flow diagnostics in hydrogen and syngas combustion.
