Research projects
This page lists some of the projects our PhD and Postdoctoral researchers are currently working on.
PhD projects
Claudio Puddu
Claudio’s PhD is about the development of RF coils and sequences for Hyperpolarised 129Xe in dissolved phase.
Laura Saunders
Laura’s PhD involves T1 weighted MR imaging in patients with Pulmonary Hypertension, with a focus on improving T1 measurement accuracy using automated image registration methods.
Adam Maunder
Adam’s PhD looks at how Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) of inert gases has shown strong potential for lung disease diagnosis and monitoring.
His focus is on the use of flourinated gas and building RF coils in order to make human imaging feasible using the gas.
James Eaden
James’ PhD project relates to the TRISTAN study. TRISTAN is a multicentre observational study of patients with suspected drug induced interstitial lung disease (DI-ILD) and other ILD subtypes.
Post-Doc projects
Bilal Tahir
Bilal investigates the applications of pulmonary functional imaging in lung cancer radiotherapy treatment planning and evaluation and for several other respiratory diseases, such as asthma, COPD and cystic fibrosis.
His specific research interests revolve around medical image analysis and in particular the integration of advanced image registration methods for the qualitative and quantitative assessment of CT and MRI-based surrogates of regional lung function.
