Dr Ross Bellaby Receives Excellence Award for Outstanding Learning and Teaching Practice
We are delighted to announce that Dr Ross Bellaby is one of the first academics in the Faculty of Social Sciences to receive an excellence award for outstanding practice in learning and teaching.
Dr Bellaby, Lecturer in Security Studies and Director of Postgraduate Taught Studies, was one of only a handful of academic staff members in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Sheffield to win the first ‘Teaching Excellence in Social Sciences Award for Outstanding Practice in Learning and Teaching’.
The quality of nominations for the award was very high, and showed the strength of learning and teaching provision across the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Sheffield.
Dr Bellaby said: “I am incredibly honoured to have received this award. Teaching is most definitely one of my passions and I am pleased to see it going down so well. Who would have thought teaching terrorism, violence and torture would be so much fun!”
Professor Nicola Phillips, Head of the Department of Politics, added: “I couldn’t be more pleased that Ross’s huge contribution to our students’ learning experiences has been recognised in this way. He is an immensely talented teacher, who combines innovative ways to bring his subjects to life with an enormous amount of attention to individual students, and goes out of his way to provide additional forums in which they can develop their skills and knowledge.
“His prize is richly and thoroughly deserved.”
