New member of the Department

We welcome Dr Esther Marijnen, who joins the Sheffield Institute for International Development (SIID) and Politics as a Max Batley funded Post Doctoral Fellow in Sustainable Peace (2017-2019).

Esther is working with Professor Dan Brockington (Director of SIID) and Professor Rosaleen Duffy (Politics). Esther's research explores the intersection of conflict studies and political ecology, focussing on environmental issues and interventions in conflict areas, with a specific focus on Central Africa. She previously defended her PhD on the multi-scalar politics of conservation and conflict in the Virunga National Park, east DR Congo, at the Free University of Brussels (VUB).
