Sheffield student Michael Sturrock has article published in The Scotsman in which he reflects on his attachment to the EU, formed during his time at Sheffield.

Sheffield student Michael Sturrock recently had his first article published in The Scotsman, one of Scotland's major newspapers.

Sturrock's opinion piece, "EU offers gold mine of opportunity", reflects on attitudes towards the EU amongst young people. He explains how his own support for the EU developed during his experience on the Erasmus scheme whilst studying in Sheffield.

Sturrock, a student of Politics, is an aspiring journalist. He said:
"The EU referendum debate is currently is dominated by fear-driven issues issues like immigration and economic security. I think, while these issues are important, the discourse is often divisive. My article in The Scotsman sought to show positive sides of the EU and opportunities it can offer, particularly for young people."
