Simon Bulmer on Germany’s Reluctance to Lead the EU During the Euro-Zone Crisis
Simon Bulmer, Professor of European Politics, has just published an article in West European Politics on 'Germany and the Eurozone Crisis: Between Hegemony and Domestic Politics'.
The article examines the domestic political constraints that limit Berlin’s ability to play a leadership role matching its underlying economic strength as world champion exporter in the EU (and not just football world champions!). It addresses in more detail some of the issues raised in Professor Bulmer's short film on the topic. The article is in West European Politics, Vol 37, no 6, pp. 1244-1263. For a short time free access is available here.
