Fees and Funding


Tuition fees are charged to cover registration, tuition, examination and membership of the Students' Union. They do not include accommodation, other living expenses or re-examination fees.

The following levels of tuition fees are for the 2016/17 academic year:

Mode of Study Home and EU Students Overseas Students
Full-Time Study £7,000 £15,750

If you have any doubt about whether you should be classified as an overseas student or not please write to the Graduate Admissions Office with full details of your own and your family's residential history.


The UK Government is introducing student loans for Masters degrees for the 2016-17 academic year - i.e. courses starting in September 2016. Applications will begin in summer 2016 and more information will be provided in due course. You can also find more information on the University's webpage.

Sheffield Postgraduate Scholarships100 Scholarships Logo

The University of Sheffield is pleased to offer 100 scholarships worth £10,000 each for students starting a taught postgraduate course in 2016.

The scholarships are for students who meet at least one of our widening participation criteria and/or students who achieve a first in their undergraduate degree. If your application is successful you can use the scholarship towards fees or living expenses, the choice is yours.

Applications are now open and will close at midnight on Sunday 22nd May 2016.
