We've designed our programmes to maximise flexibility. You'll gain solid foundations in theory, methods and analytical skills, whilst at the same time offering you the choice to specialise in the subject areas you find most interesting ensuring you get the most from your degree. We are a large and diverse department with expertise across lots of different areas which means you'll have a wide range of modules to choose from.
- Level 1 - Studying politics
Your first year of studies is about introducing you to the key areas of the discipline, supporting you in making the transition to degree-level study and providing you with the knowledge and analytical skills you'll use throughout your time here.
- Level 2 - Debating politics
This is when you'll have the chance to further develop your existing skills and apply them to real life political questions and issues. By examining different approaches and perspectives we are equipping you with the skills to become an independent researcher.
- Level 3 - Researching politics
We'll support you in carrying out your own research. You'll choose taught modules and engage with us in learning about cutting-edge research that we're doing in the department.
Studying politics at Sheffield really enables you to learn more about the political issues you care about. You have a huge amount of module choice, and are able to work with academics who are at the top of their field - which is really valuable.
