UK Students

University Scholarships

UK Students are entitled to apply for University Prize, Doctoral Academy and Faculty Scholarships and Hosssin Farmy Awards.

The majority of these scholarships will provide Home fees and a maintenance stipend at the RCUK rate (£14,553 in 2017/2018). The University Prize Award funds fees and a maintenance stipend of £20,000 per annum. However, some Doctoral Academy/ Faculty Awards may consist of a fee payment or a stipend contribution

Additionally. project scholarships as listed in the Projects Directory are generallly available to UK applicants unless specifically excluded.

Research Council Scholarships

Awards for UK students normally cover tuition fees and a maintenance allowance at the RCUK rate (£14,553 in 2017/2018).  A student who has not lived in the UK for the three years preceding their award may be entitled to a fee award only.

EU Students

University Scholarships

EU Students are entitled to apply for University Prize and Doctoral Academy and Faculty Scholarships.

The majority of these scholarships will provide EU fees and a maintenance stipend at the RCUK rate (£14,553 in 2017/2018).  The University Prize Award funds fees and a maintenance stipend of £20,000 per annum.  Some Doctoral Academy/ Faculty Awards may consist of a fee payment or a stipend contribution.

Research Council Scholarships

EU applicants who have been resident in the UK for at least 3 years immediately preceding the start of their course are eligible for awards which cover tuition fees and a maintenance stipend at the RCUK rate (£14,553 in 2017/2018).  EU applicants who do not meet this residency criteria are eligible for a fees-only award.

International Students

University Scholarships

All International Students are entitled to apply for University Prize and Doctoral Academy and Faculty Scholarships.

University Prize Scholarships will provide the primary International Tuition fee and a maintenance stipend of £20,000 per annum
Doctoral Academy and Faculty Scholarships provide a range of awards including various level of fee and/ or stipend support.

Chinese applicants can apply for the Joint China Scholarship Council - University of Sheffield Award.

Alumni Awards

Rewards worth £1000 per year of study are available for all University of Sheffield graduates and siblings, spouses, sons and daughters of University of Sheffield graduates for all years of study. An additional £500 is available for University of Sheffield graduates who have received a first class honours undergraduate degree.

Students must be self-funding and classified as overseas for fee purposes.

Research Council Scholarships

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) now accept applications from international students to fund PhD studies in Advanced Quantitative Methods.  Please see White Rose DTP webpages for more details

We may be able to support a small number of exceptional international students through out EPSRC Doctoral Training Partnership - please contact your academic department direct to discuss this.

Some funding may also be available through the Doctoral Training Centres
