2B

A student will take language units to the value of 20 credits in the same language as that chosen at Level 1.


2C

A student must pass units CIV2100, CIV2300, CIV2500, FCE2001 and MLT modules to proceed to Level 3.


2D

A student must normally achieve a weighted mean grade of 60 or above at Level 2 in order to continue as a student for the Degree of MEng in Civil Engineering with a Modern Language (CIVU15), progression being at the discretion of the Board of Examiners.  A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be permitted to become instead a student for either the Degree of MEng in Civil Engineering (CIVU16) or the Degree of BEng in Civil Engineering (CIVU17) subject to the programme regulations for these degrees.

A student must pass CIV4000 (Individual Research Project) at the first attempt in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MEng in Civil Engineering with a Modern Language (CIVU15). A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be awarded the Degree of BEng in Civil Engineering (CIVU17) but will be ineligible for the award of that Degree with Honours.

The Modern Languages Teaching Centre will assist the student in the selection of appropriate language units based on prior knowledge, language chosen and programme taken.


7

Grades awarded in respect of units listed at Level 3 above will carry the same weight as grades awarded at Level 2.
