2C

Before proceeding to Level 3 a candidate shall undertake an Industrial Project, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Head of Department.


2D

A student must normally achieve a weighted mean grade of 55 or above at Level 2 in order to proceed to the Year in Industry, progression being at the discretion of the Head of Department. A student who fails to progress may be permitted to become instead a candidate for the Degree of BEng Electrical Engineering (EEEU01).

Year 3

EEE394  Year In Industry ACAD YR 120 credits

3B

A student will be responsible for securing a suitable industrial placement in order to take EEE394. The placement will be subject to the approval of the Head of Department. A student who fails to obtain a suitable placement will instead be required to become a student for the Degree of BEng Electrical Engineering (EEEU01).


3C

EEE394 requires that a student will spend a minimum of 38 weeks working in an industrial establishment, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Head of Department. The Year in Industry will be assessed on (a) written reflections on skills-based placement journal; (b) two written reports; and (c) a post-placement presentation. No grades will be awarded for the Year in Industry which will be assessed on a pass/fail basis. A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BEng in Electrical Engineering (EEEU01).

4C

A student who does not pass EEE360 (Individual Design Project) at the first attempt will be ineligible for the award of the Degree of BEng in Electrical Engineering with a Year in Industry with Honours.
