Before proceeding to Level 3 a candidate shall participate in a Skills Week (including industrial visits), the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Head of Department.

6

Before proceeding to Level 3, a candidate for the Degree of MEng in Materials Science and Engineering Research (Industrial Management) (MATU41) must achieve a weighted mean grade of 60 at Level 2. A candidate who fails to meet this requirement may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a candidate for the Degree of BEng in Materials Science and Engineering (Industrial Management) (MATU27).

7

The Head of Department may, on the basis of the candidate’s examination performance and in accordance with procedures approved by the Faculty, require a candidate who has taken the programme of study prescribed at 1, 2 and 5 above to become instead a candidate for the Degree of BEng in Materials Science and Engineering (Industrial Management) (MATU27).

8

A candidate must pass MAT4581 (Extended Research Project) at the first attempt in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MEng in Materials Science and Engineering Research (Industrial Management). A candidate who fails to satisfy this requirement may be awarded the Degree of BEng in Materials Science and Engineering (Industrial Management) (MATU27).
