The programme of study will normally be pursued part-time for not less than one year and not more than two years.

A student will take

Semester 1
MDE61001  Effective Learning and Teaching AUT SEM 20 credits

Semester 2
MDE61002  Programme Design SPR SEM 20 credits
MDE61003  Work Based Learning and Teaching SPR SEM 20 credits

A person may be admitted who
(a) has a recognised degree in a healthcare profession.
(b) has experience in teaching in a healthcare or related setting
(c) has access to learners in a healthcare or related setting

A student who receives a referral on two occasions (including for non-submission) will normally be deemed to have failed that module. If mitigating circumstances are not submitted or are not accepted by the exam board, then the student will be deemed to have failed that module.

Students who fail a module may be permitted to complete any remaining modules under the university regulations. But will not be eligible for the award of the Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education.
