Before proceeding to Level 3, a student will attain a satisfactory standard in an Engineering Applications Course, the arrangements being subject to the approval of the Head of Department.
A student must satisfy the requirements of the General Regulations for First Degrees as to progression in order to continue as a student for the Degree of MEng in Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Management (MECU009). A student who fails to satisfy these requirements may be permitted by the Faculty to become instead a student for the Degree of BEng in Mechanical Engineering (MECU002). In this instance, in addition to satisfying the requirements of the General Regulations for First Degrees as to the Final Examination for the Degree of BEng in Mechanical Engineering (MECU002) the student must achieve a grade of 40 or above in the individual element of the Group Design Project (MEC307). A student who does not achieve a grade of 40 or above in the individual element of the Group Design Project (MEC307) at the first attempt will be ineligible for the award of a Degree with Honours.
A student must pass MEC401 (Individual Project) at the first attempt in order to be eligible for the award of the Degree of MEng in Mechanical Engineering with Industrial Management (MECU009). A student who fails to satisfy this requirement may be awarded the Degree of BEng in Mechanical Engineering (MECU002).
