Description

This module aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the legal aspects surrounding the regulation of financial services. It presents financial regulation through an analysis of normative principles and aims of financial regulation, concentrating on 'why' the law is the way it is, and identifies any consequent gaps in prevailing legal structures and understanding of financial markets. It will critically analyse concepts such as market efficiency, banks' financial structure, and corporate governance, as well as consider the history and structure of bank and financial services regulation through domestic and international agencies.
