Research interests

During my time at Newcastle University, I explored the experience and perception of menstruation among females identifying as women. During my MSc at the University of Bristol, I explored the interaction between the social construction of language and emotion in cognition.

I studied specifically how widely used taboo words related to the sexual body may create a cognitive bias, influencing how the sexual body is felt towards generally in society.

This led to an interest in the connection between offence and humour, and I am currently a research assistant in an ESRC-funded project investigating the impact of political humour.
