Welcome to the Dainton Graduate Research Centre
Lockdown UPDATE - The GRC remains open, but with access changes for the Dainton building.
The Graduate Research Centre is a study space specifically for Post Graduate Research students. If you are not a Research student you can find details for alternative study spaces here.
There have been some changes made to the access for the Dainton Building. In order to access the building you will need out of hours access, and must ensure that your out of hours and fire safety training is completed on the Health & Safety Training web page. Once you have completed your out of hours and fire training please email email@example.com to be granted swipe access to the Dainton building. Changes to your swipe access can take a few days, so please ensure you send your access request in advance of booking a desk in the GRC.
The Graduate Research Centre provides study space specifically for Postgraduate Research Students. Research students will be able to book a desk space online through ‘Resource Bookings’ located in MUSE services. Bookings can be made for a 9am-5pm period, available Monday to Friday. Please note that the centre will be closed after 5pm and over the weekend. To book a desk space through the Resource Booking system click on 'Book by Category' and then select 'Postgraduate Research Desks'. If you need further information or assistance with your booking please visit the Resource Booking System web page.
Due to COVID-19, new social distancing measures have been put into place within the centre, which will limit the amount of computers in use. We ask that all students use only the computer they have booked through the resource booking system, to ensure the safety of all users. It is also essential that students use the cleaning equipment supplied in the centre, to wipe down their work stations before and after use. The GRC is classed as an indoor teaching space and therefore students must wear a mask at all times, as per the university guidance here. As members of the university community, it is our social responsibility to help stop the spread of COVID-19 by ensuring good conduct and behaviours and adhering to relevant COVID guidance, failure to adhere to the rules will be fully investigated.
The social distancing restrictions have limited the number of spaces available, which means booking a space is essential. There are bookable desk spaces available on both Floor D and Floor C in the GRC. Research students will be able to book one session per day (9am-5pm), up to twice per week. Bookings can be made within an hour of the start date, and up to one week in advance.
The Dainton Graduate Research Centre offers research students dedicated and bookable work spaces at the heart of the campus. The centre has been designed with students' needs in mind. It has wireless connectivity, flexible work space, and kitchen facilities. We ask that all students keep their work space clean, removing any items or rubbish at the end of each session.
