Timetable for Receipt of Unsatisfactory Progress Reports
With effect from the 2017/18 academic year, and in order to cope with increased demand for the service, the Student Engagement and Progress team implemented a timetable of meetings for considering unsatisfactory progress cases referred from departments which require a student to meet with a Faculty Officer. The timetable enables us to prepare for Faculty Officer meetings and peak periods, and will provide academic departments with clear guidelines as to when cases should be referred.

If there are urgent cases which fall outside these dates, cases can be referred on an individual basis and it would be helpful to discuss this with a member of the SEP Team in advance of sending the report. In addition, if you are unable to meet these deadlines but wish to submit a report please let us know. Please be aware that it is not usual practice to meet with students during examination periods or vacations. It would therefore be helpful to receive cases early enough, giving the Faculty enough time to deal with the cases appropriately.
Unsatisfactory Progress Reports that require a student to be sent a letter only (i.e. a warning letter) will be accepted throughout the academic session but please be aware that we would not normally write to students in the two weeks before or during an examination period, or, in the case of undergraduate students, over the Summer vacation period.
