Systematic Approaches to Searching for Evidence (NEW for 2020)

This highly interactive one-day course will cover the key principles of identifying published and unpublished evidence in a systematic, transparent way.
We will look at turning a research idea into a viable, structured search; scoping; choosing sources; developing effective strategies and documenting your searches, so they can be reproduced.
The course will draw on ScHARR’s 25 years of experience at the cutting edge of evidence synthesis, in addition to highlighting the latest available search tools and emerging techniques from the relevant method literature.

Anyone with an interest in conducting or supporting systematic reviews or similar evidence synthesis projects, especially:
- Early career researchers
- Postgraduate students
- Librarians and information specialists
The course will consist of a mixture of presentations, group work, discussions and individual exercises.

- Start: 9:30am with registration and refreshments, with a prompt 10am course start.
- Finish: 4pm
£249 - Early Bird Rate - For bookings received on or before 11pm on TBC.
£349 - Standard Rate - For bookings received on or before 11pm on TBC, or when the course reaches full capacity, whichever is the soonest.
£125 - ScHARR Staff/ScHARR Students Only. If you are planning on paying for the course via Budget Transfer/Invoice, then a Purchase Order must be raised before making your booking.
Bookings will automatically close at 11pm on TBC.
Course materials will be provided via a delegate course website approximately one week prior to the course start date. Hard copies of exercises will be provided throughout the course as necessary. Hard copies of PowerPoint presentations will not be provided, but these can be printed by delegates before the start of the course via the delegate course website.
Participants are asked to provide their own laptop for the duration of the course.

Refreshments and lunch are provided for the duration of this one day course.
Accommodation is not included in the course fee. We do however have a preferential rate of £70 per night at Halifax Hall and £50 per night at our new Jonas Hotel. Details of how to book these, to ensure you receive the reduced rate, will be provided in your confirmation email upon receipt of your booking.
