I have been working in urgent and emergency care research at ScHARR since 1999. During that time, I have worked on a number of projects evaluating policy and workforce innovations in this setting, including a Department of Health funded evaluation of new national ambulance response times’ standards (1999-2004); the effectiveness of emergency care practitioners (2005-2008) and the introduction of Foundation Training Doctors (2008-2012) in UEC. I was Theme Manager for the CLAHRC YH Avoiding Attendance and Admission in Long Term Conditions Theme (2014-2018).

- Understanding the nature of demand and flow in the urgent and emergency care (UEC) system
- Solutions to improve unsustainable demand in UEC
- The impact of new roles for healthcare staff in UEC
