I have worked in Higher Education for the last eighteen years in various institutions.  I have taught on largely Health-related and Health Professional programmes with Undergraduates and Postgraduates.

Coming from a Health Promotion background my main subject expertise is in Public Health, and through my teaching and research I have developed an interest in Teaching and Learning in post-compulsory education.  I am currently Course Director for the Master of Public Health and the Master of Public Health (Health Services Research).  Both roles allow me to work directly with students and staff in ensuring a student focused approach to delivering our programmes and supporting learning and teaching in ScHARR.

Research interests

My research interests are in teaching and learning pedagogies including inter-disciplinary learning.  I recently obtained a Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy and I'm currently conducting research into student feedback and distance learning courses.  I am also keen to develop my experience in public health related research and working with students on research projects.

Teaching interests

My teaching interests lie both in the delivery of teaching, and in specific subject areas.  Examples include:  Student support and involvement, Blended and Work-based learning, Health Promotion, Health and Social care Policy and Research methods.

Teaching activities

I currently lead modules in Health Needs Assessment and Health Promotion and contribute to Research, Public Health,  and Dissertation modules both face to face and distance learning.
