Dr Dawn Teare to take part in the Big Walk 2015
The University has organised a special fundraising walk of the Pennine Way in September 2015. Funds are to be raised to support translational research into pulmonary arterial hypertension in University of Sheffield labs. Twenty one alumni, staff and friends are taking part including our very own Dawn Teare. The Pennine Way is 286 miles and the team will be doing it in 15 days. There will be many ways for friends and departments to support the fundraising event including joining the walking team for single days. See www.shef.ac.uk/big-walk for details and future updates.
Dawn is a keen walker and has done many stages of the Pennine Way in the past but at a much slower pace and carrying full camping kit. Cautious training has already begun with one 18 mile walk completed since learning she was selected for the team. The first day of the Big Walk is 28 miles so lots more training is on the cards to ensure she completes the first day in daylight!
