Meet our PGR's - Syed Salleh
My name is Syed Salleh and I come from Johor Bahru, Malaysia. In 2013, I completed my Master's degree in Management of Information Technology at Coventry University. It was through my studies that I was first introduced to simulation modelling in operational research (OR) and I decided that this was the area in which I wanted to work on, due to my interest in the subject and pursuing a career in teaching OR.
Following graduation, I enrolled for my PhD in ScHARR under the supervision of Dr. Praveen Thokala, Prof. Alan Brennan and Dr. Ruby Hughes. Currently, my project aims to demonstrate the effects and provide recommend guidance for integrating physical resource (e.g. doctors, beds) constraints in health-technology assessment models. Different case studies were used to model the associated resource constraints for a given technology, and capture the effect of any potential constraints (e.g. service delays). This was done by adapting published cost effectiveness models, for example a model that compared treatments for acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction: primary angioplasty versus thrombolysis. These models were then redeveloped to include these constraints, using the discrete event simulation technique.
